Christ-mas
is the celebration of Christ.
"Christ"
means "Messiah", or the One that God promised would set people free
from death and destruction. The only people who can be set free are whom? Those
who give Jesus their hearts and lives. (See God's Promises...)
On December
25th w e celebrate Jesus
Christ's birthday. When you have a birthday you have your friends over, and
they come and eat cake with you, bring you presents, and remember how wonderful
you are to them. Some of them might say nice things about you. But most of all,
they will enjoy your company and make you happy. Birthdays are celebrations
of the person who was born, with the purpose of honoring them. The focus is
on the birthday boy or girl. In this case, the focus of Christmas should be on
the birthday Boy, Jesus.
Christmas is to honor Christ. How
can we do this? Can we bring Him presents? What should they be… (Love the LORD
your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all
your strength. Deut 6:5 ) ; ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of
the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ Matt 25:40
How can we honor Christ?
Jesus says that whenever two or more of you are gathered in my Name, there I am
in your midst. Let's speak of Jesus Christ!
Who is He that we celebrate?
I am going to pass these out, read your slip of paper, and tell us all how this
has practically impacted your life this year. Cite examples in detail.
