The reason our program is named God's Word is Alive! is because
God says in His Bible -
The Word of God is living and active. Hebrews 4:12
That means that it is Alive!!
How can God say this? By these two facts.
1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. John 1:1-3
In the beginning? When was that? God tells us in the first book of His Bible, Genesis:
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good. Genesis 1:1-3
Notice, God spoke and the physical realm changed. God said His Word, Let there be light, and there Was light! God’s Word actively did something.
Let’s examine this Word more closely in Fact 2. God teaches us more about His Word in the first chapter of John.
2. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, Who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, Who is at the Father's side, has made Him known. John 1:14, 10, 18
Who is this Word? None other than the Lord Jesus Christ. How do we know this? by many witnesses, and from this one in particular.
There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that Light, so that through him all men might believe. He himself was not the Light; he came only as a witness to the Light. The True Light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. John 1:6-9
Jesus Himself testified to Who He is -
"I tell you the Truth, whoever hears My Word and believes Him Who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. John 5:24
Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every Word that comes from the mouth of God.' Matthew 4:4, Deuteronomy 8:3
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
That is how the Word of God, the Bible, which we are studying, can effect us actively. Because God’s Word is Alive God's Word is Alive! .
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete. This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:1-5
There are many more verses throughout the Bible where God testifies of His Own Word. And why should we read it and take it seriously? Because if the Lord God Almighty thought it was important enough to communicate with you and me, shouldn’t we listen to Him? Yes! Of course!
